History
Relics indicating the activity of human beings from primitive society around 6 thousands years ago. Commercial hub flourishing in Song and Ming dynasties.
Hometown of the heroes in Water Margin and Jin Ping Mei, one of 4 great classical novels of China. There are lots of cultural relics including Guangyue Tower and Gyeongyanggak.
Guangyue Tower, a wooden pavilion, 33m high, protecting the castle with an artificial lake and fortress for 1km in all directions.
Culture
Historic city where you can see the ancient cultural properties and history of China at a glance (around 400 cultural properties). Shanshan Hall is used as a museum.
The circus troupe which is recognized throughout the world (50 members, 10 staff members)

March 12, 2003 : Liaocheng government employees visited Gwangmyeong city hall to deliver the intention to make sisterhood relationship.
Sounded out the intention to make friendly cooperation and sisterhood relationship with Gwangmyeong.
April 1-22, 2003 : Gwangmyeong collected data and status on Liaocheng, Shandong, China.
Population, economy, administrative organization, economy industry and features of city.
Aug. 25-29, 2003 : Gwangmyeong sent a working-level delegation to Liaocheng to examine the feasibility of sisterhood relationship.
Identified similarities between both cities including population and dimensions
Confirmed potentiality as a city for economic development and possibility of dynamic exchange activity in economy industry field.
Selected Liaocheng as friendly cooperation city.
Oct. 10, 2003 : Liaocheng requested Gwangmyeong Delegation to visit
Nov. 5, 2003 : Gwangmyeong and Liaocheng made the MOU on friendly cooperation.
March 31-April 3, 2004 : Liaocheng Delegation visited Gwangmyeong in return for the visit of Gwangmyeong Delegation.
April 4, 2004 : Participated in Korean Enterprise Investment Presentation in Liaocheng, China
June 5-8, 2004 : Entrepreneurs of Gwangmyeong Chamber of Commerce visited Liaocheng Economic Development Zone at invitation.
