Starting from Siheung Mine in 1912, the industrialization period of the Japanese Empire, the abandonment of the mine, and its use as a storage place for salted shrimp, the treasured Gwangmyeong Cave remains intact. You can closely see the process of buying the abandoned mine in 2011 and its exploration to the unusual shape that welcomes visitors today in the




It has chronological panels that briefly introduce the history of the cave's 100 year history and a 7 m sized diorama the recreates the shape of the cave shaft, and a restored winch is exhibited in the Modern History Museum. Also it is an exhibition hall where history and art coexist. Presentations, life-sized models and images show the miners during the Japanese colonial period, a refuge during the Korean War, and development of the art during the industrialization period.
